Meet Grover! Our new childcare centre pet and the newest member our The Grove Academy family.
Affectionately named by one of our parents, Grover joins a long list of much loved Grove Academy pets. This includes ‘Charlie’ our Shetland Pony in Kemps Creek, ‘Bluey’ the Blue Tongue Lizard in West Hoxton 2 and ‘Salt & Pepper’ who are our Rabbits in Mascot 2.
Grover is currently calling our Mascot 2 campus home. But he will be spending time at each of our childcare centres over the next few weeks. Our children will have the opportunity to feed Grover his bottle, pat and interact with him.
Not only is Grover the sweetest little centre pet, but he also forms an important part of our Grove Develop program and agricultural program. As a reggio inspired curriculum, Grover provides endless activities and learning opportunities to integrate into our daily programs.
There are also countless physical, emotional, cognitive and social benefits of having animals in childcare. Caring for centre pets help children develop a nurturing and caring attitude, in addition to responsibility. Our centre pets also help settle children by proving a distraction and by building confidence.
Watch this space! Grover is coming to your Grove centre soon. We’re looking forward to introducing you all to him.
